Like an explosion, the Libyans have gone all out and started publishing newspapers and magazines as an expression of their new found freedom like kids let out to the playground. In mid October of 2011 Benghazi has 120 new publications.
The first publications were more expressions of outrage at Ghadaffi but now they are covering every subject as well as criticism of government that had been restricted in the past under the dictator, Mr G.
Most publishers are new to the game and come from many different backgrounds. Some are still holding onto their day jobs.
The new found freedom of expression has brought out a lot of peoples opinions but I predict that publishing in general will return to a more sustainable level as many will cease to exist when they can't subsidize themselves any longer.
At least for now people are saying what they want to say... for now until government gets a tighter rein on the press. Let's hope that doesn't happen.
The masses prefer freedom.
